RGN Statement: A note about data protection as GDPR approaches

Rotation

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – considered by many to be the most important change in data privacy in decades – will go into effect on 25 May.

The GDPR, which is designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe and protect the data privacy of EU citizens, applies to companies processing and holding the personal data of data subjects residing in the EU, regardless of their location.

Runway Girl Network is committed to the protection of users’ personal data. We believe it’s important to impart the following:

  • Our email lists are opt-in only; we have never padded our lists with non-subscribers’ names and email addresses. If you believe your email address has been added to our lists by anyone without your consent, please contact us immediately at info@ruwaygirlnetwork.com.
  • If you have subscribed to our email lists (our free newsletter or subscription-based direct-to-inbox premium content), please take a minute to update your preferences and ensure that you receive the most relevant communications from Runway Girl Network.
  • It is a user’s right to have all personal data deleted. You can manually unsubscribe from our email lists and cancel any subscription. Please also feel free to contact us directly at info@ruwaygirlnetwork.com if you would like for us to update your preferences, unsubscribe you from any list, or cancel your subscription.
  • It is a user’s right to access their full record. Please feel free to contact us directly at info@ruwaygirlnetwork.com if you would like for us to provide you with your record, delete your record, or have any questions about your account.

Ensuring the privacy of our users is deeply important to us. Our Privacy Policy can be accessed here, and will be regularly updated.

We are actively working on a variety of improvements to Runway Girl Network to fulfill the requirements of the GDPR. For example, you can expect to see additional messaging around the opt-in checkbox for our newsletter and a new consent box in the comments section of the website. Other changes and improvements are in play and will be communicated to users.
