Press Release: SWISS to roll out new onboard ordering concept with RiM

SmartSky - Finally WifI that Wows

The onboard retail experts at Retail inMotion are pleased to announce a partnership with Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) for the development and management of SWISS Saveurs, a new onboard ordering concept on short and mid haul flights from their base in Geneva, Switzerland.

From the end of May, SWISS will begin offering economy class passengers the opportunity to upgrade their inflight experience by purchasing market-leading Swiss signature dishes, gourmet sandwiches, hot & cold snacks, and beverages. A portfolio of new perishable products has been developed in close partnership by SWISS and Retail inMotion with iconic Swiss retailer & delicatessen Globus. The food offering will draw on local flavors and favorites, like a “planchette” served on a wooden board, a traditional “carac” pastry from a local bakery, and the traditional Genevan “Maxi délice poulet pavot” sandwich.

All of the artisan products will be made available to Business Class passengers at no additional cost. Economy Classic and Economy Flex passengers will continue to be offered a separate complimentary snack and drink with the opportunity to upgrade their experience with the signature dishes. Economy Light passengers will also be able to purchase items from the new food offering.

As part of the partnership with Retail inMotion, SWISS will be implementing Retail inMotion’s proprietary onboard retail management software, Vector In-Flight, to capture and process payments on board. Additionally, Retail inMotion will implement various onboard ordering services, including range development, category management, crew training, and menu card & catalogue design. Retail inMotion also assumes responsibility for managing the financial performance of the airline’s onboard ordering program.

Rotation
“We have been able to develop an onboard retail concept with SWISS that is truly revolutionary for the industry,” commented Lars Redeligx, Chief Commercial Officer at LSG Group Europe. “The new SWISS concept shows how a retail program can underscore an airline’s brand values.”

“SWISS Saveurs will redefine our passenger experience from Geneva,” commented Lorenzo Stoll, Head of Western Switzerland for SWISS. “With Retail inMotion’s expertise, we will provide greater quality and choice in our food and beverage offer, and drive customer satisfaction with our valued guests.”

Retail inMotion, based in Ireland, became a fully integrated member of the LSG Group in 2016. The company’s culture of collaboration and innovation continues to help it to steadily strengthen its position in the global onboard retail industry. Retail inMotion offers propriety products, solutions and services in onboard retail IT technology, crew training, product distribution, inflight entertainment, and fully outsourced onboard retail services. www.retailinmotion.com  www.lsg-group.com

  1. This could well be the end of me using SWISS airlines. I can see no point in paying extra to fly with them, if Economy light passengers are going to have to pay for the food onboard. Same aircraft as a low cost carrier (LCC), same seats and also have to pay for baggage, exactly the same as a LCC. So what it the point of paying extra money to have the same service as on a budget airlne? None that I can see. A race to the bottom for Swiss airlines.
