Waiting in airports, be it before your flight departs or on a stop-over, can be rather boring. However, it doesn’t have to be like this and passengers who are guests of one of the ten SWISS Lounges at Zurich and Geneva airport are lucky because they can now select from a range of 430 digital Swiss and international newspapers and magazines offered by Media Carrier’s e-library Media Box and download them for free.
After having successfully added the Media Box to its in-flight service offering at the start of this year, SWISS has now decided to also provide guests of their exclusive airport lounges with the easy-to-use premium e-library. This means that users can choose from the range of 430 publications included in the Media Box, download them and read them at their leisure, i.e. either while in the SWISS Lounge or later when on board or at home.
The Media Box is a web-based service and can be used with any internet-enabled device. Users neither need to install an app nor register and provide private data. SWISS Lounge guests simply use the free-of-charge Wi-Fi provided on site, access the Media Box via a special portal site and can then create their personalized selection from the wide range of publications on offer. After download, all the newspapers and magazines are provided in their print layout for easy and intuitive reading. Individual passages of text can be enlarged via a zoom function. Special info panels put up in SWISS Lounges will highlight the new service.
SWISS passengers have been able to use the Media Box since the beginning of 2017 and the service is flagged up at online check-in, on the SWISS website and in pre-flight emails. Depending on their fare class and frequent flyer status flight, passengers are offered a certain number of free-of-charge downloads.
“Our innovative, digital content service is increasingly in demand and appreciated by passengers, in particular discerning business travellers. We’re delighted that we have been able to convince our airline client SWISS with the quality we provide in terms of IT services and product development so that the Media Box is now also being used in other areas. This enables SWISS to offer its guests a service that creates added-value and gain a competitive edge in the sector with innovative offerings,” says Media Carrier Management Director Philipp J. Jacke
