(ANA) today introduced a new Personal Program for individual customers as part of its ongoing “SAF Flight Initiative,” in addition to the existing corporate program. The Program is designed to give customers a direct way to reduce aviation-related CO2 emissions through the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Through a collaboration with Norwegian software company Chooose AS (Chooose), ANA customers can understand their personal flight-related emissions and purchase SAF environmental attributes which contribute to the decarbonization of aviation.

“ANA Group prioritizes shaping the future of aviation and building a more sustainable society as a top priority for leadership,” said Seiji Ejima, Executive Vice President of ANA.

“Accelerating the decarbonization of the aviation industry through leveraging Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is crucial to achieving our goal of reducing CO2 emissions. With the launch of this new program, we invite our customers to join us as partners in creating a better future together.”

At the time of ticket purchase, customers wishing to participate in the Program can view estimates of the CO2 emissions from flights with ANA at ana.chooose.today. From there, passengers can purchase SAF environmental attributes which contribute to aviation decarbonization by supporting ANA’s expanded use of SAF.Based on the payment amount, ANA will issue a purchase certificate showing the estimated CO2 emissions reductions.

  • SAF has the potential to reduce lifecycle emissions by approximately 80% compared to conventional jet fuel.
  • Price is calculated based on the selected route, boarding class, and SAF purchase percentage. Fees incurred from program operation are included.
  • Receipts and purchase certificate will be issued by Chooose, the program provider.
The Personal Program issues a simplified purchase certificate, rather than the third-party-certified CO₂ reduction certificates provided under the Corporate and Cargo Programs. The program’s SAF inventory and allocation are still independently audited on a regular basis to prevent double counting and ensure credibility.
  • Purchase requires agreement to Chooose’s Terms of Use (posted on the Chooose platform).
The expansion of the “SAF Flight Initiative,” to individual customers supports ANA Group’s goal to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions from aircraft operations by 2050. Today, the initiative also includes a Corporate Program and Cargo Program for corporate customers.
