Lufthansa takes one jet per month with Allegris; to ramp up in 2025

Lufthansa has welcomed a fifth aircraft fitted with its Allegris generation of longhaul product. Having launched Allegris on an Airbus A350 from Munich in May, the airline is now taking one aircraft per month with the new interiors, according to company vice president product & customer experience Victoria Schuster.

“As of next year, we’re going to introduce two aircraft every month with the new Allegris concept and design,” Schuster said during Lufthansa’s unveiling of its new lounge at Newark Liberty Terminal B, which boasts a plethora of seating options and Allegris touches. Renovated lounges are also coming to New York JFK and Washington Dulles.

Lufthansa Group is taking what Schuster calls a “holistic” approach to designing every touchpoint of the passenger experience — on the ground and in-flight — under a EUR 2.5 billion investment in product enhancement.

“Product enhancements are not only lounges,” Schuster said in Newark. “Lounges are super important, but of course it’s more than that. It’s also cabin. It’s catering onboard. It’s airport experience, it’s additional services. And we try to do this at the same time right now.

“And of course, it’s going to take a while until you see it in every class and in every touchpoint. But we will do our best to actually do that, especially since for us it’s very important that it’s a holistic approach and we do it onboard and also on ground.”

She noted that Lufthansa’ Allegris cabins represent a significant part of the Group’s wider investment, not only in hard product but soft product as well. (So too, no doubt, do the future SWISS Senses cabins.)

“We invested heavily in the past months also in business class catering on longhaul flights, also in economy class catering. And I’m going to tell you right now, we are also working on new concepts for the future as well,” said the Lufthansa executive.

“So there’s more to come…”
