Female students at both campuses of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University have been given a one-year membership to Women in Aviation, International (WAI), the organization reports.
Students at both the Prescott, Arizona, campus and the Daytona Beach, Florida, campus are now full WAI members. The 1,372 Embry-Riddle students will receive all WAI member benefits, including qualifying to apply for WAI’s scholarships, reduced conference fees, and networking and chapter activities. The membership costs were provided in part by Embry-Riddle and in part by a donor who is an alumni of the university.
WAI’s 25th Anniversary Conference will be held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida (near Orlando), from 6-8 March. For more information, contact WAI through www.wai.org or via Phone at: (937) 839-4647.
Separately, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) reports that its AV8RS youth program will award up to $20,000 in scholarships. The scholarship program, funded by the AOPA Foundation through donations from AOPA Insurance Services and Sporty’s Pilot Shop, helps outstanding students ages 13 through 18 accomplish their aviation goals.
