“To support our projected growth, we remain focused on strengthening the pillars that sustain our operation: a robust route network, a modern fleet, and the development of talent required for an expanding operation,” said Pedro Heilbron, Chief Executive Officer of Copa Airlines.
“In an increasingly competitive global environment, this approach allows us to grow sustainably while generating employment, attracting more visitors, and strengthening our contribution to Panama’s economy.
Advancing Seamless Travel
By 2026, Copa Airlines expects to operate 420 daily flights through the Hub of the Americas®, reinforcing Panama’s position as a strategic, efficient, and leading hub in Latin America.
Over the past 18 months, the airline has strengthened its network by adding new destinations, including San Diego, Raleigh-Durham, and Los Cabos, enhancing connectivity for U.S. travelers, along with Tucumán, Puerto Plata, and Florianópolis. The airline has also resumed services to Salvador de Bahía, Salta, and Santiago de Los Caballeros, and restarted operations to key cities in Venezuela, including Caracas, Barquisimeto, Valencia, and Maracaibo, further expanding regional connectivity.
To support this growth, Copa Airlines expects to operate a fleet of 121 aircraft by the end of 2026 and currently has 43 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft pending delivery through 2029. The airline also plans to announce details of its next Boeing aircraft order, reinforcing its long-term commitment to expanding connectivity across the region.

This fleet expansion will also support sustained operational growth. By 2026, the airline expects to carry approximately 20.9 million passengers, further solidifying the Hub of the Americas® as the region’s leading hub for travel across the Americas.
Panama Stopover:
The Panama Stopover program will remain a key driver of tourism, transforming layovers into extended travel experiences. After reaching 215,000 tourists in 2025, a 25% increase year over year, the program is projected to attract 250,000 visitors in 2026, further boosting tourism-related sectors.
As a new enhancement, the program will extend the permitted stay from 7 to 15 days at no additional airfare cost, offering greater flexibility and encouraging U.S. travelers to explore the country’s rich culture, biodiversity, and culinary scene.
In this context, destinations such as David in the Chiriquí province are gaining increasing relevance. Currently, approximately 25% of passengers traveling to this destination arrive via connections through the Hub of the Americas®. With three daily flights, and up to four on weekends, the airline is increasing seat capacity by approximately 40%, helping to drive greater visitor traffic and support Panama’s overall tourism growth.
Next-Level Travel: high-speed connectivity and an enhanced inflight experience
Copa Airlines continues to enhance the passenger experience and has announced the integration of Starlink as its onboard Wi-Fi provider.
As the first airline in Latin America to implement this technology, Copa will offer high-speed, low-latency internet powered by Starlink’s advanced low-Earth satellite orbit network. This upgrade will enable a significantly improved inflight connectivity experience, supporting activities such as streaming, online gaming, cloud-based work, and real-time browsing. The rollout of this service is expected to begin in July 2026.
With these projections for 2026, Copa Airlines continues to strengthen an operation that not only connects Panama with the region but also positions the airline as a top choice for U.S. travelers while.
