The project encompassed a comprehensive cabin modification, including:

  • Removal of all existing passenger seats.
  • Installation of new Geven D3 “Essenza” Model (Y/C) seats, with pitches ranging from 28” to 29”, along with infill panels replacing removed monitors to maintain the existing Passenger Service Unit (PSU) layout.
  • Removal of the In-Flight Entertainment System (IFES) and its components, including monitors, a Video Control Center (VCC), a Data Server, and a Multiplexer located in the avionics rack. This removal resulted in a weight reduction of approximately 80 kg,  translating into annual fuel savings of around €12,000.
  • Aircraft-side modifications to the IFES, including cable routing, installation of switches, and supports for equipment boxes.
  • Rearrangement of cabin carpet and seat track covers to adapt to the new seating arrangement.
  • Installation of Burrana’s ISPS (In-Seat Power Supply) System, providing USB charging points (15W max per outlet, no data transmission) for passengers. Each front-row triple seat includes six USB assemblies (three for its own occupants and three for the row behind), while each standard triple seat includes three USB assemblies for the row behind.

This extensive upgrade significantly enhances passenger comfort and onboard connectivity, while also delivering measurable operational efficiency.

By acting simultaneously as DOA and on wing integrator, AIRE ensured a seamless process from concept and certification to physical implementation. This integrated approach eliminated handovers and guaranteed complete technical continuity throughout the project.

AIRE’s on-wing implementation team completed the cabin upgrade in just five days, followed by ground tests performed by DOA engineers. These tests led directly to the final EASA approval of the STC, marking the project as a model of efficiency and collaboration.

“This achievement demonstrates the strength of our integrated model, where design and implementation work hand in hand to deliver faster, more reliable results,” said Juan Arévalo,  Engineering Director at AIRE. “We are proud to support Iberojet in elevating the passenger experience while ensuring compliance with the highest safety and certification standards.”
