Presss Release: Syrian Air expands Airbus A320 fleet

Press Release hub banner blue with title in red white and blueIn a significant new step toward developing Syrian Air’s fleet and strengthening its operational capabilities, the first of two newly acquired aircraft arrived today at Damascus International Airport, bearing the registration YK-AKI.

One of the two aircraft will enter service soon, while the second, registered YK-AKJ, is preparing for the painting stage ahead of joining the fleet before the end of September.

Both aircraft are Airbus A320-200s, configured with 156 seats: 12 Business Class seats and 144 Economy Class seats.

Rotation

The two aircraft have undergone comprehensive inspections, maintenance, and technical evaluations carried out by Syrian engineers alongside two specialized international companies, ensuring their full readiness and compliance with the highest internationally recognized safety and airworthiness standards.

These two aircraft mark only the beginning of a new phase within a broader plan to modernize and expand the national carrier’s fleet, with additional aircraft expected to join soon, opening new horizons for an expanding flight network.
