The collaboration combines Airmont’s StreamTime technology with DPI Labs’ cabin entertainment infrastructure to bring seamless live television into the business aviation passenger experience.

At the core of the integration, the Airmont Gateway operates as a virtual machine hosted directly within DPI Labs’ Multimedia and Moving Map Server, eliminating the need for a separate physical gateway. The MMS can support more than 100 simultaneous passenger streams. Airmont’s proprietary live TV streaming technology, StreamTime, transports and optimizes live television streams over the aircraft’s available connectivity, making efficient use of bandwidth and helping operators manage connectivity costs.

The solution operates seamless on Eutelsat’s Oneweb constellation, used by Gogo Galileo system. The Airmont Player application runs on an aviation-grade Apple TV provided by DPI Labs, while passengers can access and control the TV experience using an iPad by scanning a QR code.

As onboard connectivity continues to evolve, business aviation passengers increasingly expect access to live news, entertainment and major events, just as they do on the ground. This integration enables operators to meet these expectations by adding live television to the cabin entertainment experience while making better use of their existing onboard connectivity.

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to making advanced live TV technology easier to integrate into business aviation,” said Jean-François Gault, CEO of Airmont.

“Working with DPI Labs allows us to combine our respective expertise and offer operators new possibilities to enhance the passenger experience. It is an important step in expanding the reach of our technology across established avionics platforms.”

“Our Multimedia and Moving Map Server was designed to serve multiple passenger needs on a single platform, from cabin control through personal devices and FlightPath3D moving maps to onboard entertainment content storage,” said Martin Hamilton, VP of Business Development, Sales and Marketing at DPI Labs.

“Hosting Airmont’s live TV gateway adds another highly-desired capability to that same server, eliminating the need for a separate gateway box. This deployment shows how the MMS can enhance the passenger experience while keeping the onboard hardware footprint simple and compact.”
