Club seats onboard business jets provide a plush and comfortable setting for travellers. But as the latest generation of bizjets fly further — and with sleep hygiene increasingly in the spotlight, especially after the Covid crisis — inflight sleep solutions have become more important to passengers.

Enter Primadonna, the Tucson, Arizona-based provider of luxury aircraft amenities which says it is now shipping its new ‘PrimaLux FlexFrame Mattress System’ to business jet operators, to facilitate inflight sleep.

Made of lightweight, specialized carbon fiber, the 6lb FlexFrame mattress frame can be quickly and easily erected by flight attendants. It accommodates Primadonna’s so-called PrimaLux multi-layer memory foam mattress, which is available in three comfort levels. Together, these items create a bed on board.

“Each bed system is customized to fit securely between two single club or conference seats. In seconds, the FlexFrame sets up, ensuring passengers will be sleeping soundly with no delay,” explains the firm.

First unveiled at the 2022 NBAA-BACE show in Orlando, FlexFrame is suited to most large and midsize bizjets from Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer and Gulfstream.

But Primadonna reckons that the system “would benefit all OEMs” in business aviation.

“It’s not an update to a prior product. It’s a brand new product for Primadonna and is the lightest option on the market,” says company director of marketing Minday Elizalde.

She says the system is considered loose equipment. This means it does not require arduous supplemental type certification for use on board. Instead, the components are simply stored in compression storage bags, which can be personalized for each operator.

“Stowing is as simple as deploying, which speeds the passenger’s ability to move on to the next phase of service,” notes Primadonna, whose collection also includes luxury, bespoke bed linens.

Shipments of the product began in December.
