In the wake of the ongoing Corona pandemic, Diehl Aviation is stepping up its efforts to apply its technology and expertise to measures for the improvement of hygienic standards in aircraft cabins, aimed at making post-Corona flying safe, secure and sound.
The company has launched a product innovation initiative – dubbed Cabin Confidence Concept – addressing the operational challenges that airlines are facing in the post-Corona environment, as well as health concerns of the travelling public.
Diehl Aviation has identified three fields of competence in its portfolio that will help to enable airlines and to enhance passenger well-being on board.
Firstly, Diehl Aviation will apply its expertise in environmental control systems to optimize air circulation and humidity in the cabin, as well as disinfecting and purifying the air on board. Secondly, the company has been working for some time on numerous touchless features for the aircraft cabin, particularly for lavatory environments, in order to enhance hygiene on board. Lastly, UV-C technology will be applied as tool for disinfecting surfaces, and for water purification.
Based on these competences, Diehl Aviation is now working on specific product solutions that will be available to the market as soon as possible. In addition, the company offers features for immediate applications such as flight–ready disinfectant dispensers, corona placards for cabin hygiene and hands-free lavatory handles.
By investing in these solutions, Diehl Aviation is pursuing the short-term goal of supporting the aviation community in returning to regular airline operations, including trust building with the travelling public. In the longer term, Diehl Aviation’s solutions will contribute to defining standards and technologies for the aircraft cabin of the future in the “new normal” of a post-Corona environment.
Diehl Aviation is a division of Diehl Stiftung & Co. KG and combines all aviation activities of Diehl Group under one roof.
