Honeywell has been selected by Finnair to provide its new Fuel-Efficiency Software, part of the GoDirect portfolio of subscription services, to help improve the airline’s fuel usage and cost savings. The solution provides the Finland-based airline with tools to assess its current fuel consumption. The solution also analyzes and recommends ways to potentially save fuel, while monitoring and communicating progress of fuel-saving efforts.

“Powerful fuel-management software is key to saving money and increasing operational efficiency while lowering an operator’s environmental impact,” said Jason Wissink, senior sales director, Connectivity Services, Honeywell Aerospace. “The GoDirect service combined with the flexibility of Honeywell’s Fuel-Efficiency Software will support a fast deployment and ensure airlines are well-equipped to support future fleet growth.”

“Honeywell’s Fuel-Efficiency Software makes it easy to involve our organization better in the fuel-efficiency management and feedback processes,” said Perttu Jolma, head of Operations Control Center at Finnair. “Deployment of the software has already begun, and we are looking forward to having the system operational in the coming months to help us achieve greater efficiencies and transparency across our fleet.”

Honeywell’s Fuel-Efficiency Software includes more than 100 ready-made analysis reports and integrates with existing airline systems through a user-friendly data interface. Airlines can quickly deploy the solution and begin to use existing or customized reports and dashboards based on individual stakeholders’ needs. The software also rigorously monitors a variety of possible fuel-saving initiatives for each flight, while providing comprehensive reports to guarantee full compliance with the EU Emissions Trading System legislation. Fuel consumption can make up as much as 20 to 40 percent of an airline’s operating costs, and even single-digit percent efficiency improvements can save airlines tens of millions of dollars in fuel spending.
