Cathay Pacific is refreshing and reconfiguring economy class on its 202-seat Airbus A321neos to offer a lower-density layout that enhances legroom.
The new interior, which will debut this summer, sees economy class capacity decrease from 190 seats to 183 seats. Seat count for business class remains the same at 12.
In executing on this refit, Cathay is addressing the chief complaint it receives from economy passengers who fly its A321neos: cramped legroom on account of the roughly 30” seat pitch.
“Your feedback is always invaluable which is why we are introducing an enhanced A321neo experience on regional flights — arriving summer this year,” the airline says on LinkedIn, whilst sharing the LOPA (layout of passenger accommodations) for the new 195-seat A321neo.
“In our new economy cabin layout, featuring fewer seats and more legroom, you will enjoy greater comfort, more thoughtful details and intuitive features, alongside a refreshed look — thoughtfully designed with well-crafted materials,” the carrier assures.

Three lavatories will continue to be offered down back, but the lavs have been rearranged to accommodate a more expansive galley space, enabling crew members to more easily accomplish their tasks.
Up front, leather accents and the personal side console stowage on each of the 12 business class seats will be refreshed in a new shade.
The new look will be “progressively introduced through our brand new A321neo aircraft and also refitted onto our existing fleet,” Cathay says.
New IFE screens will also debut in economy class on the carrier’s new-delivery A321neos, with Cathay revealing it plans to bring enhanced 13.3” OLED IFE screens to the new twinjets.
Panasonic Avionics’ NEXT IFE system is fitted to the current in-service A321neos. 4K OLED displays are part of Panasonic’s next-gen Astrova line.
Cathay assumed regional subsidiary Cathay Dragon’s A321neos when it shut down and integrated the latter into its operation amid the COVID pandemic. Some 16 A321neos are currently in service at Cathay, with a further 14 slated for delivery.
