Satair, an Airbus Services company, and Airchair, an innovative supplier of on-board wheelchair solutions, have signed a new five-year global distribution agreement covering Airchair I and Airchair II. This marks the first collaboration between the two companies and reflects their shared commitment to improving the passenger experience for travellers with reduced mobility.
Airchair I has been in operation with airlines since 2007; Airchair II has been developed to fully comply with the latest US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations on accessibility. Compact, lightweight and easy to handle, the Airchair enables passengers with disabilities to access aircraft lavatories in greater comfort and dignity during flight.
By working together, Satair and Airchair are helping airlines worldwide meet evolving accessibility standards while providing a meaningful improvement to the travel experience of passengers with reduced mobility.
Sarah McOnie, Business Development Director at Airchair added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Satair to bring Airchair I and II to airlines around the world. This collaboration not only expands our reach but also reinforces our mission to make air travel more accessible and inclusive for passengers with reduced mobility.”
Matt Jessee, Head of Business Development at Satair, commented: “This agreement with Airchair for their industry-leading on-board wheelchair products represents an important step in broadening our cabin portfolio with increased passenger-centric solutions. By ensuring global availability of Airchair’s innovative products, we are supporting airlines in meeting regulatory requirements while helping to deliver a more dignified travel experience for all passengers.”
About Airchair:
The Airchair was developed in 2007 to help airlines match a key regulatory and social requirement to a passenger’s needs. Since that time, Mercury Products has invested in product design and innovation to produce aisle wheelchairs that meet the needs of today’s airlines, enabling accessible travel for all. The entire design focuses on efficiency and passenger comfort. It is lightweight but remarkably strong, incorporates a unique retracting back support and can be folded small enough that it can be stored in an overhead locker or dog box.
