Lufthansa Systems announced that KLM Royal Dutch Airlines now uses its next-generation Lido Flight 4D Integrated Flight Support (IFS). KLM relied on the Lido Flight 4D legacy system for more than 20 years. With this transition at the beginning of April, the flagship carrier of the Netherlands is taking a major step in modernizing its flight planning. The move signifies a commitment to efficiency and operational excellence – setting a benchmark for the industry.
Lido Flight 4D IFS integrates flight planning, flight monitoring, and in-flight support into a single, comprehensive platform. The system leverages real-time data and operational parameters to provide optimized routing solutions while streamlining dispatcher workflows. Advanced automation and intuitive exception-based management enable a more efficient decision-making process, reducing workload and improving situational awareness.
“We have a long-standing, close and transparent partnership with KLM in developing our Lido products. KLM was involved from the early stage; helping shape the initial product vision of Lido Flight 4D. They became launching customer when the development of Lido Flight 4D IFS began. Today, they are among the first airlines successfully using the solution in daily operation,” said Philipp Barzen, Head of Lido at Lufthansa Systems.
“This milestone reflects the strength and value of our close collaboration – not only for KLM but for the entire Lido community. Their expertise and feedback are instrumental in helping us continuously enhance Lido Flight 4D IFS to meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry.”
By transitioning to Lido Flight 4D IFS, KLM is reinforcing its leadership in operational efficiency and technological advancement. The system’s ability to enhance fuel efficiency, improve flight planning, and proactively manage operational challenges aligns perfectly with KLM’s sustainability goals and reputation for excellence.
“We are excited to integrate Lido Flight 4D IFS into our operations,” said Pim Stam, Director Dispatch & ATC Management, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
“It marks a significant advancement in flight planning, offering our dispatchers more efficient workflows, real-time insights, and improved situational awareness. We look forward to even greater benefits as the solution continues to evolve. Our partnership with Lufthansa Systems ensures we remain at the forefront of innovation in flight planning.”
By leveraging advanced automation, real-time monitoring, and seamless integration, Lido Flight 4D IFS redefines how airlines manage their flight planning, ensuring greater efficiency, reliability, and situational awareness. Lufthansa Systems continues to enhance its solutions in close collaboration with industry leaders like KLM, ensuring that Lido Flight 4D IFS is leading the way in flight planning technology.
