MAAS Aviation, a globally recognised expert in aircraft painting and exterior coatings, is extremely proud to have painted Embraer’s latest Profit Hunter, the E195-E2 ‘Tech Eagle’. The top-secret repainting project was completed at MAAS’ flagship facility in Maastricht, The Netherlands, last month. An experienced and highly skilled team of 38 painters worked around the clock shifts for 15 days to ensure the unique livery was ready to be unveiled at the Dubai Airshow 2023.
The success of this project is testament to the professional and supportive collaboration between the expert teams at Embraer, MAAS and AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings. On completion, Richard Marston, MAAS Aviation CCO, commented, “I would like to thank everyone involved in this project for their outstanding performance, the end result speaks for itself, you should all be very proud. I also extend my gratitude to our partners at Embraer for entrusting us to deliver this spectacular and iconic design.”
The Tech Eagle is the latest predator-themed livery from Embraer, following their famous shark, lion and snow leopard designs. Darragh Hall, Jnr, Graphics Manager at MAAS said, “It was a great opportunity to be involved in this exciting yet challenging project. The Embraer team approached everything with the same ‘solutions, not problems’ attitude and were a pleasure to work alongside. This shared approach coupled with the experience of our inhouse painting team, resulted in the delivery of another fantastic livery.”
MAAS Production Coordinators also commented on their experience of working on the E2 Profit Hunter Tech Eagle. Andrzej Calus said, “When I first saw the project, I was very impressed with the design and immediately started to plan how we would achieve such a detailed and complicated paint job.” Adam Buczek added, “The technical drawings of the livery design are flat, but of course the aircraft itself is curved. Marking out the lines with masking tape was a difficult task that needed absolute attention to detail. Even the smallest deviation would have been unacceptable, so it was not easy. But in the end, it looks great, we are all very happy with the final result.”
MAAS was also delighted to receive excellent feedback from Embraer on the outcome of the project. Guy Douglas, Director of Corporate Communications at Embraer Commercial Aviation, commented, “Great artwork continues to emerge from The Netherlands, the home of Rembrandt, Vermeer and others.” With André Machado, Global Creative Director Embraer Commercial Aviation, adding “It’s amazing! We are very happy with the results and process.”
Embraer explained the origin of the design when the livery was launched, “In recognition of the growing number of E2 customers around the world, we painted the E2 with this striking livery reflecting the aircraft’s high-tech features and outstanding performance. Like an eagle, the E2 flies efficiently and quietly.”
AkzoNobel is a longstanding partner to both MAAS and Embraer, with this project marking the sixth time it has worked on a predator-themed livery with the Brazilian OEM. The E2 Tech Eagle livery is the most complicated of these projects to date and required over 14 different colours of its Aerodur 3001 Basecoat/Clearcoat system to achieve the spectacular finish.
