Press Release hub banner blue with title in red white and blueNew titanium wastewater tanks and the modern Airspace cabin for single-aisle make the Airbus A321XLR a true long-haul aircraft. On June 15, the latest aircraft type in the A320 Family completed its maiden flight with many technical innovations from Diehl Aviation on board.

Diehl Aviation has played a major role in developing the new Airspace cabin for the Airbus A320neo Family with its many extensive work packages. The latest aircraft of the most successful family of standard fuselage aircraft, Airbus A321XLR, will now also receive the modern and likewise comfortable cabin outfit. The Airbus A321XLR is a variant of Airbus’ A320neo, with a range capability up to 4,700nm/8,700 km.

The state-of-the-art Airspace cabin offers passengers more space and comfort in a pleasant atmosphere. In addition, the touchless lavatories features guarantee passengers the best possible hygiene.

Passengers notice the benefits of the new cabin design, especially on longer routes. Diehl Aviation’s work packages give passengers better seating comfort with more side clearance and passengers have significantly more space for their hand luggage. Additional and larger tanks significantly increase the water capacity on board.

Germany’s leading first-tier supplier for cabin and avionics has developed an innovative lighting concept using the latest LED technology for the entrance area, the entire cabin, and the lavatories. This makes the areas significantly larger, more modern, and brighter. In addition to the impressive main lighting and the flexible light strips along the contour of the overhead compartments, the highlight is the Hero Light which runs in the middle. The 40-centimeter-wide strip light can be customized for each airline customer. Comfort colors and dimmable lighting ensure maximum well-being for passengers on board.

Passengers will also find more comfort, atmosphere, and the highest hygiene standards in the lavatories. The updated fresh and wastewater system with new larger titanium tanks meets the significantly higher demand on long flight routes.

“We are making a significant contribution to maximum comfort and optimum hygiene on board with many comprehensive work packages for the Airspace cabin. The innovative solutions will particularly impact the Airbus A321XLR on longer flight routes. After all, the longer the flight, the greater the passengers’ need for more comfort on board,” says Harald Mehring, Chief Customer Officer of Diehl Aviation.

In addition to the work packages for the Airspace cabin, Diehl also supplies products and sub-systems for the A321XLR avionics.
