Press Release hub banner blue with title in red white and blueSmartSky Networks today announces that AvMet Applications, a leading collaborator with the FAA’s NextGen Aviation Weather Division, has joined SmartSky Networks Skytelligence® platform to broadly offer its actionable weather data and analysis to the aviation community. Business and commercial avionics developers and operators can now have selective, data driven access to hi-resolution historical weather event forecasts through a convenient, flexible platform.

“Data-driven decision making is the future of aviation operations,” says AvMet Applications President Mark Klopfenstein, “and SmartSky’s Skytelligence provides an ideal platform for AvMet to bring our weather impact data solutions to the aviation community. We look forward to working with SmartSky to develop new and enhanced capabilities to power Aviation’s digital transformation.”

Ryan Stone, President SmartSky Networks adds: “Data is at the heart of everything we do at SmartSky and integrating providers like AvMet into Skytelligence is essential to ensuring we provide our users with access to data at the right place and the right time so they can make real-time decisions as easily at 35,000 feet as they would on the ground.”

AvMet’s data services are now available for access on Skytelligence where they can be fused with other operational data, such as real-time turbulence from IATA through a common storefront that provides application developers with instant access to global data required to deliver real-time, critical advisory applications.

SmartSky’s products and services are available through a growing network of Value-Added-Reseller (VAR) and installation partners and includes all three interrelated offerings: i) the best-in-class, next-generation air-to-ground network, ii) advanced shipset hardware for aircraft communications, and iii) a transformational digital platform and application-layer, Skytelligence.

About SmartSky

SmartSky Networks was founded to transform aviation through disruptive communications technologies, services and related tools. We want to remove slow, stuttering connectivity experiences from aviation to deliver data to people that feels as immediate, natural and fluid at 35,000 ft as it does on the ground in terms of dependability, speed, security and interoperability. We are transforming aviation data flow to a new level of immediacy, dependability and integrity through a patented 10x faster Air-to-Ground network, innovative hardware, and our flexible data exchange platform, Skytelligence to create a true “enterprise in the sky” experience for all aviation users.

About AvMet Applications, Inc.

Since its founding in 2000, AvMet Applications has been developing state-of-the art analysis tools and weather-aware fast time simulation models that can identify and measure the impact of adverse weather on aviation operations. Our mission is to help the aviation community answer questions associated with weather impacts: “When and where will adverse weather be disruptive? What is the expected impact on my operation? What can we do to reduce this negative impact?” With a deep understanding of how weather affects air traffic operations, AvMet excels in its abilities to translate weather data into actionable solutions to support government and commercial organizations.
