Leading enterprise data management and intelligent connectivity solutions provider SKYTRAC Systems Ltd. (SKYTRAC), and South Korea-based startup Aero K Airlines Co. (Aero K), today announced a partnership that will provide global mobile data coverage to Aero K’s fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft for domestic and international flights.
Currently in the final stages of obtaining an Aircraft Operating Certificate (AOC), Aero K will serve multiple destinations in Asia within the 2020 calendar year, starting with Jeju as a domestic route in August.
“Our goal is to become the leading airline in Northeast Asia, and that means investing in our pilots and infrastructure so we can optimize efficiencies right out of the gate,” mentioned Stuart Cross, Chief Operating Officer of Aero K Airlines. “We are pleased to select SKYTRAC due to their position as a market leader in intelligent connectivity.”
Aero K will rely on SKYTRAC’s mobile data coverage to access mission-critical flight data and enable pre- and post-flight Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) connectivity in the cockpit and cabin. The cellular data service can be used by tablet devices for cockpit, cabin, and ground crews to enable access to flight plans, weather reports, eTechLogs, charting map updates, passenger manifests, and more.
SKYTRAC’s partnership with GigSky, a provider of seamless global cellular data coverage in over 200 countries, will enable Aero K to leverage intelligent connectivity solutions across the entire enterprise while eliminating costly roaming overages. It also simplifies the airline’s accounting processes by providing one easy-to-manage invoice across the fleet. In addition, Aero K will benefit from the ability to share data, allowing users that require a higher percentage of total data to access it without penalty.
“We stand behind SKYTRAC as a leader in intelligent connectivity and are eager to see their growth into the airline segment,” mentioned Vikas Chand, Vice President of Enterprise and IoT Sales at GigSky. “We see GigSky as a multi-industry solution and are pleased to see market share growth within aviation.”
SKYTRAC’s Director of GADSS and Airline Business Development, Ruben Stepin, mentioned, “Aero K is a model airline looking to implement the latest connectivity technologies to gain in operational efficiencies. We look forward to supporting Aero K in their growth.”
