Qatar Airways is introducing ‘Super Wi-Fi’-branded Internet on select U.S. routes, granting passengers seated in any class access to high-speed broadband connectivity during their entire long-haul journey.

Business and leisure travelers on select U.S. routes can now enjoy free unlimited high-speed broadband connectivity throughout their entire flight when they book their tickets on qatarairways.com from October 15th through November 14th. The ‘Super Wi-Fi’ facility was recently introduced on select flights from Washington, D.C., Chicago and New York, granting passengers seated in any class access to unlimited Wi-Fi capabilities during long-haul journeys onboard the award-winning airline.

Qatar Airways Senior Vice President of the Americas, Mr. Eric Odone, said: “As one of the fastest growing airlines and greatest innovators in the industry, Qatar Airways’ commitment to expanding onboard, technological advancements and providing superb service is paramount. Since the roll out of ‘Super Wi-Fi’ in April, we noticed positive reception across our eligible routes. Thus, we are thrilled to now offer ‘unlimited Wi-Fi in the sky’ to our Chicago, Washington, D.C. and New York customers, as they will have access to rich content without restriction –  perfect for both leisure and business.”

‘Super Wi-Fi’ is a high-speed broadband connectivity using Inmarsat’s GX Aviation technology. Inmarsat are the same high-tech provider selected by Qatar Airways for its space-based tracking system used to track all its flights worldwide. As one of the world’s leading developers of tracking systems, Inmarsat use a network of satellites to detect signals transmitted from aircraft and relay this information reporting speed, location and direction, to ground-based receivers.

With the roll out of ‘Super Wi-Fi’ in April, Qatar Airways became the first carrier from the MENA region to provide advanced high-speed Wi-Fi to its passengers across the globe. In addition to the select U.S. routes, the broadband service is being progressively rolled out on all Boeing 777 aircraft and Airbus A350 aircraft in Qatar Airways’ young fleet.

The unlimited, free access to ‘Super Wi-Fi’ further enhances the unprecedented level of service provided by Qatar Airways in-flight experience. For instance, Oryx One, Qatar Airways’ award-winning, in-flight entertainment system offers passengers up to 4,000 entertainment options from the latest blockbuster movies, TV box sets, music, games and much more.
