Press Release: Rockwell Collins’ nextgen MMR to keep airlines flying

Rockwell Collins, the airline industry’s leading provider of Multi-Mode Receivers (MMR), today introduced its GLU-2100 next-generation MMR for air transport aircraft. The newly designed MMR, which readies airlines for all foreseeable future global navigation requirements, is in development and will be available as an option for Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

The GLU-2100 MMR will bring numerous enhancements such as satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) navigation and turn-key compliance to all known automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) mandate requirements. It incorporates VHF omnidirectional radio range (VOR) functionality and is a form-fit, drop-in replacement for legacy MMR units and will operate with existing antennas.

The new MMR also offers an easy, software-only upgrade path to Category II/III global landing systems (GLS) and multi-frequency navigation, and multi-constellation navigation—including localizer performance with vertical guidance (LPV) operations—with a replacement antenna.

“Our next-generation MMR builds upon Rockwell Collins’ GPS development legacy and history of delivering and supporting nearly all GLS and SBAS solutions in the air transport market segment with a new, patent-pending design that will serve airlines for the next 25 years,” said Steve Timm, vice president and general manager, Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins.

Rockwell Collins provides the only certified MMR for air transport aircraft with both GLS and SBAS and is the only company delivering an MMR that supports Selective Availability (SA)-Aware functionality, which is required to comply with near-term U.S. ADS-B Out airspace requirements.

All Rockwell Collins systems are backed by a world-class 24/7/365 global customer support network with a proven record of exceptional responsiveness to keep aircraft in service.
