Jiatai looks to secure linefit offerability for premium economy seats

Work is afoot at Jiatai to secure linefit offerability with airframers for its premium economy seating platforms for widebody aircraft.

Long a trusted supplier to China’s COMAC, the Xiangyang-headquartered seatmaker also currently holds Boeing and Airbus linefit certifications for its single-aisle economy class and business class seats, as well as its twin-aisle economy class seats.

And, in late 2024, Jiatai announced a cooperation agreement with Airbus to optimize its economy seats in support of the airframer’s 10-abreast configuration for the Airbus A350 New Production Standard (NPS).

Now, applications for linefit certification for its twin-aisle premium economy seats are “currently in process,” Jiatai reveals to Runway Girl Network ahead of the big Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany. The design style is similar to that of the firm’s business class recliners for single-aisle aircraft.

Jiatai’s broader product portfolio includes three configurations of business class seating for single-aisle aircraft: the mechanical version of its JT220B, the electric version of JT220B, and a newly upgraded JT220B design.

Winged privacy is certainly growing in popularity in the world fleet, and the updated JT220B design notably includes this feature.

The economy class line, meanwhile, includes the new, fully featured JT1122E for long-range operations, and the JT22E for medium- and long-haul flights.

Celebrated design house Factorydesign has collaborated with Jiatai on three narrowbody economy products, and recently worked with it on the JT1122E. The UK firm says the latter platform was “developed from the feet up” and embraces “all current trends in seat design.” It is flying on Hainan Airlines and China Southern.

Factorydesign adds that it continues to pursue “a defined strategy to globalize Jiatai’s product catalogue.”

Jiatai has not yet developed a lie-flat platform for business class. But its sister in the AVIC stable, Thompson Aero Seating, is considered a premier provider of premium lie-flats.

With professional technical solutions, efficient delivery guarantees, and comprehensive after-sales support, Jiatai is making a name for itself in the industry and has earned recognition from customers. We look forward to learning about what’s next for fast-growing Jiatai at AIX 2026.
