Press Release hub banner blue with title in red white and blueRheinland Air Service GmbH (RAS), headquartered in Mönchengladbach, has been a leading MRO service provider for 65 years and is active at five locations throughout Germany. Certified by EASA, the CAA (UK), the FAA, and other international aviation authorities, RAS is a reliable partner for maintaining the aircraft fleets of numerous regional airlines and leasing companies.

In July 2023, RAS acquired Aviation Technik Saar (ATS) at Saarbrücken Airport. By merging Aviation Technik Saar GmbH with Contact Air Technik GmbH to form RAS SAAR GmbH, the fusion of both companies will be completed. The newly formed RAS SAAR combines the longstanding expertise and capabilities of both companies in the maintenance of regional aircraft. The range of services offered by RAS SAAR strategically expands the capabilities of the RAS Group.

With a comprehensive infrastructure and access to an extensive 2,500 meter runway at Saarbrücken Airport, RAS SAAR offers customers optimal facilities for the maintenance of regional jets. The 3,200 square meter hangar can accommodate up to seven aircraft, including the Embraer E-Jet family and similar models. These excellent conditions allow for a significant expansion of the MRO capacity for additional aircraft types, as demonstrated by the first Embraer E-190s.

By combining the long-standing expertise of both companies, RAS further strengthens its position as a leading European maintenance partner for regional aircraft. At the same time, it consolidates and significantly expands its capabilities for regional jets. RAS SAAR’s expertise, like that of its parent company RAS, extends to the maintenance of ATR 42/72 and DHC8 aircraft – but with enhanced capabilities for regional jets, specifically the Embraer E-Jet family.

From routine A-checks to complex D-checks, RAS SAAR’s trained personnel can also perform structural and major modifications. As a result of the merger, RAS SAAR’s customers will benefit from a comprehensive range of services that optimally meet all individual requirements.
