Air France last year vowed to bring SpaceX’s Starlink Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite-based inflight connectivity service to its entire fleet, including regional aircraft operated by subsidiary Hop. Today, the carrier shared an image of an Embraer 190 sporting the Starlink phased array kit atop its fuselage.

An Air France spokesperson confirms to Runway Girl Network that Starlink is indeed installed on the Hop E190 and is now powering free Wi-Fi for passengers who find themselves on the twinjet.

“This new and exclusive service on this aircraft is completely free of charge by connecting to your Flying Blue account, the Air France-KLM group’s loyalty programme. Air France is gradually equipping all its aircraft with this cutting-edge technology, including its regional fleet,” it says.

The launch of Starlink at Hop comes with another first for the regional feeder; it has debuted a new 2-2-configured cabin with Expliseat’s lightweight TiSeat 2X seats throughout.

Business Class, which is styled as a classic EuroBiz offering, is presently isolated from economy class by a curtain. But from October 2025, each business passenger will have an empty seat next to them.

Expliseat notes that the seats are 18 inches wide, offer three inches of recline, and feature ergonomic headrests. Passengers can also avail of device holders, plus USB-A and -C ports to recharge their devices, including laptops. A double cup holder has also been integrated for added practicality.

The Starlink-fitted E190 operated Flight AF1602 from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Hamburg today.

“By summer 2026, all Air France’s E190s will be refitted” with the new interior, says the airline. It intends to share an update on its Starlink equipage soon.
