MI, the industry’s first interactive authoring platform, is the latest solution from Panasonic Avionics and represents the company’s vision to revolutionize the in-flight experience and create a new digital “seat back” channel for airlines that moves at the same pace as other airline guest touchpoints.

Andrew Mohr, Vice President of Digital Solutions at Panasonic Avionics, said, “We are honored that Riyadh Air has chosen Modular Interactive for their Astrova IFE launch, and we are very excited to work with them to significantly increase guest digital engagement.

“Working side-by-side with the other two airline digital channels – web and mobile – we believe that MI will help Riyadh Air create a seamless, personalized guest experience across the entire travel journey – from pre-flight, to flight, to landing and beyond. Ultimately, we are confident this will deliver increased business value outcomes including loyalty, ancillary revenue, and operational efficiencies.”

Anton Vidgen, Vice President, Guest Experience at Riyadh Air, said, “As the world’s first digitally native airline set to fly in 2025, we aim to integrate modern technology and traditional Saudi hospitality with sustainability at the core. Panasonic’s MI solution will provide our guests with a differentiated and personalized experience and will allow us to quickly and easily update our IFE in response to evolving guest preferences and behaviors.”

Panasonic’s MI solution offers a complete set of highly customizable, turnkey enterprise tools that help airlines extend their brand to their IFE system and engage with today’s digitally savvy travelers. Central to that is MI Studio, a full-featured interactive design tool which offers a quick and easy way to respond to the latest guest trends and provide seasonal updates and promotions. It helps create new levels of personalization at the seatback for dynamic and context-aware interactives, letting airlines speak directly to various guest personae through different loyalty schemes, flight themes, locations, and promotional offers by tier, airline route, or cabin class.

Designed as a cloud-based platform, MI uses a flexible architecture that delivers highly configurable layouts, themes and style designs without the typical lead times or costs of traditional interactive development and testing, minimizing lengthy and costly ATPs. Design styles, colors, layouts, effects, and other branded assets, along with apps and service activations, are easily defined and integrated, allowing airlines to build and test experiences autonomously.

A Live Preview feature will verify and confirm updates in real time. With the push of a button, Riyadh Air will be able to validate results, simulate flight events, and preview final output. These features and functionality will help Riyadh Air assess higher levels of guest engagement by simultaneously changing its interactive to display customized and tailored A/B testing campaigns. Once live, services can simply be turned on or off, and interactive layouts can be changed at any time and without additional software.
