The space, beyond the security control area, will provide more comfort, convenience, and privacy for passengers on flights outside the Schengen area. The lounge, which will highlight Portuguese culture, is 4090 square feet in size with capacity for approximately 100 people.  It will open every day between 5am and midnight.

“Improving customer service is a priority for TAP,” said Sofia Lufinha, TAP’s Chief Customer Officer. “This new lounge was a need we identified and now have been able to fulfill. TAP has a very strong presence in markets such as Brazil, the United States or Africa and now we can provide a more comfortable experience for passengers on non-Schengen flights.”

The project for the new lounge was developed by Alma Design, which describes the concept as a “harmonious fusion of functionality and aesthetics that provides passengers with an ideal place to retreat, relax and prepare for the next stage of their journey, celebrating Portugal’s cultural heritage, while reflecting the Company’s sustainability strategy, thanks to the choice of local, sustainable and authentic materials”. Cork and ceramics, for example, will be featured.

The designated spaces for food, work, meetings and relaxation ensure passengers’ privacy and comfort. There is also gallery space for temporary exhibitions by Portuguese artists, offering TAP and Star Alliance passengers an insight into Portuguese culture and creativity.
