After a successful project kick-off, the new Montenegrin national airline is planning to start operations today, June 1. In addition, Air Montenegro has strengthened its partnership with Lufthansa Systems by awarding a contract to the airline IT and service provider for Lido mPilot, a charting solution that enables pilots to benefit from increased situational awareness, safety and efficiency.

On behalf of the Montenegrin government, the airline released an international tender for consulting services to select a partner for setting up the new airline. ”Lufthansa Systems was able to prevail against some of the world’s leading aviation consultancies,” said Pedrag Todorović, CEO of Air Montenegro. “The consulting team impressed us with its proposal, not only in terms of its deep knowledge of all airline business processes, but also with its comprehensive advisory approach. This is just the beginning of a successful cooperation that  will lead to the establishment of a fruitful and lasting partnership between the two companies.”

Lufthansa Systems will support Air Montenegro and its operations throughout the ramp-up in the upcoming summer season and well beyond. The startup airline has already successfully obtained its Air Operator Certificate (AOC). Now the entire project team is working toward the start of service. “In the current times, our industry is continuously facing unfamiliar landscapes. We are therefore particularly proud to support the Government of Montenegro in setting up the country’s new flag carrier in this volatile market environment,” said Olivier Krueger, CEO of Lufthansa Systems. “With strategic guidance complemented by our broad airline service portfolio, we are able to serve airlines of all business models, and we are ready to lead Air Montenegro to success as the world evolves to new realities.”

After an in-depth review of the main challenges and an analysis of the planned strategy, business model and commercial plan, Lufthansa Systems’ experts advise the airline on how to achieve operational stability. The consulting services include designing a lean organizational structure with suitable processes, roles and responsibilities, as well as providing a recommendation for a spin-off decision for their maintenance. Furthermore, Lufthansa Systems provides an adequate set-up for a future OCC and a tailored plan for the necessary change management initiatives.

In addition to consulting services, Air Montenegro will rely on Lido mPilot, a charting application based on iPadOS that provides pilots with all the necessary navigation charts, documents, and messages. The application boasts an intuitive user interface, data visualized using the acclaimed Lido Route Manual charting standard, and more than thirty user configurations. Overall, Lido mPilot optimizes workflows for pilots and improves their  situational awareness.
