Passengers on airlines worldwide will soon be able to view this year’s Academy Award®-winning films while flying, including Best Picture winner Moonlight, in addition to La La Land and Hacksaw Ridge, thanks to Entertainment In Motion (EIM), a wholly owned subsidiary of Global Eagle Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENT).
EIM, the largest independent distributor of feature films and television content to the global airline industry, will offer these top Oscar®-winning movies to airline partners beginning with La La Land March 1, and Moonlight and Hacksaw Ridge in April.
“Because of our licensing agreements with major motion picture studios and producers, and our close working relationships with the world’s major airlines, we are able to offer to our partners and their passengers the top early-window movie releases prior to their home entertainment release,” said Neal Rothman, president of EIM. “This is the second year in a row that films in our portfolio took Best Picture honors. Last year, Spotlight won in the Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay categories.”
Altogether EIM-distributed films garnered 11 Oscars and 37 award nominations in this year’s Academy Awards. The full list is as follows:
- Moonlight – Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali), Best Adapted Screenplay
- La La Land – Best Actress (Emma Stone), Best Director (Damien Chazelle), Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Original Song (“City of Stars”), Best Original Score (Justin Hurwitz)
- Hacksaw Ridge – Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing
In addition to offering first-run Hollywood films, EIM delivers extensive short TV programming, including Emmy Award-winning TV series, sports, comedy, adventure and travel shows that have proven to be popular with passengers. All entertainment offerings are provided in 12 languages and available in dubbed and subtitled versions.
