Airline passengers flying busy North Atlantic routes are in line to benefit from the successful launch of Intelsat 29e, a High Throughput Satellite that will support faster inflight Internet. In this episode, we look at which carriers will likely see service improvements first, and highlight how Inmarsat is gearing up to make its near global satellite constellation, Global Xpress, available to airlines once the requisite antenna hardware certifications are secured.
We also hear from RGN contributor and roving reporter John Walton, who recently spotted a special Qantas Boeing 747 at Australia’s Perth Airport. John explains what he saw, why it’s so cool, and shares his original video and images, which went viral on social media.
Finally, we take a walk down history lane with a visit to the British Airways Heritage Collection at London Heathrow Airport. The museum is set up as a timeline, which lists BA’s history starting on 25 August 1919 when the carrier’s forerunner operated what is considered the world’s first daily international service.
